about this event

The Peacebuilding National Youth Design Challenge is open to young people aged 10 to 21 across Australia and runs from March to November 2026. This nationwide program invites youth to design creative, practical solutions that help build more inclusive, respectful and connected communities.

From tackling racism or bullying to promoting reconciliation and digital safety, the challenge encourages participants to think deeply about the issues affecting peace and connection in their lives and take action to make a difference.

Participants choose from five focus areas including cultural understanding, emotional resilience, storytelling for change, truth-telling and reconciliation, or digital peacebuilding. Using a step-by-step design process, they will explore real-world problems, develop ideas and test their solutions before submitting their project online.

The challenge is open to individuals or teams, with access to resources and the chance to gain feedback and recognition for their work. It's an opportunity to turn creative ideas into real impact and help shape a more inclusive future for all young Australians.

This challenge is supported by Australian Rotary Clubs, who can get involved by bringing the challenge to local schools in their region.
